I had the opportunity to film my first wedding video in Julian last weekend. Kyle and Brooke had a beautiful country wedding, authentic to the core, on Brooke’s parent’s horse ranch. The deep blue skies and golden, oak spotted hills were a refreshing alternative to the cloudy gloom that has plagued San Diego all summer. Friends and family all pitched in to put together a very unique and memorable wedding. Kyle, being a firefighter, and an all around great guy, managed to pull off 2 fire engine chauffeurs that delivered the whole wedding party to the reception. Can’t wait to get the highlights posted!

Rachel and Dane were married at the El Cortez Hotel which has to be one of my favorite places to film wedding videos. The reception hall is one of the nicest in San Diego with it’s gilded and ornate ceilings and black glossy floors. Rachel and Dane’s wedding decor complemented the room beautifully. They were awesome to work with and the wedding was tons of fun.

This is a teaser clip of our upcoming highlights video reel from the weddings of 2009. I always underestimate the magnitude of selecting the best clips from so many weddings. Oi Vai! In the meantime this little intermediate video will have to do. What a great year! These wedding took place at such places as La Jolla Cove Suites, Twin Oaks House, Loew’s Coronado Resort, The Cravens Estate and the Temecula Creek Inn amongst others.

Lani & Paul’s wedding was pure joy to film. Between the wedding parties’ enthusiasm, the families’ tight connection and Lani and Paul’s great relationship there was never a dull moment in the video. I had the opportunity to film Lani’s sister Abby’s wedding two years before which made it fun to see a lot of the same people again. Abby did a fabulous job as wedding planner and kept everything running smoothly. Her Dr. Seuss toast is now my official all time favorite. Who knew? Paul and Lani had their ceremony at the Pacific Beach United Methodist Church and the reception at the Admiral Baker Clubhouse. David Champagne Photography did an awesome job and kept finding great light in unexpected places, which is always the challenge. You can view some of the photos from the wedding on David’s blog. Matt and Kelli brought their own unique style and charms to what was a very fun wedding. To top it off they served a delicious buffet of catered Mexican food, which I have to say is a nice break from the usual wedding fair. Karen and her crack team at the The Twin Oaks House and Gardens were everywhere and nowhere at the same time (I swear she hires ninjas). She does a phenomenal job keeping everything running on time and works tirelessly to add new features to her unique venue. I had the opportunity to work with Alex Slattery Photography for the first time. We got along famously and worked well together which is always a good thing for videographers and photographers.

Ingrid and Tony’s wedding was flawless and fun. They chose a gorgeous location overlooking Dana Point Harbor and Catalina Island for their hotel and reception at Cannon’s Seafood Grill. The view reminded me why we endure the traffic and frustrations of life in this amazing state. JNP Studios were simply awesome to shoot with. Jeff is a creative powerhouse with his photography and very innovative with his technique. Great Wedding!

Stacey & Krishen were great to work with and super photogenic to boot. What more can you ask for? Well how about a restored Studebaker, courtesy of Stacey’s father and the Spanish colonial ambiance of the El Cortez Hotel . If you were planning to shoot an ad in this style you really couldn’t do it any better. Nice job Stacey! Studio Duva provided their always stellar, always thorough and ever creative photography to add to the perfect pitch of day. Dennis Bergstrom of B’Entertained kept the day running smoothly and always to a great beat with his superior DJ skills. Dennis is also a great classical / flamenco guitarist which lends a very nice accent to any ceremony or reception. All in all, this was a great wedding.
Global Goddess
December 29th, 2009When the wedding season winds down we often shoot other things to pay the bills. This was a video promotion for Global Goddess Beauty Supplies. We shot it in Paul Bowers’ studio which has lots of great light and a very creative atmosphere. I would imagine any bride could benefit from these products.
